SAHARA EXPRESS

2 DAYS | FES → MERZOUGA → FES

Short on time? You can still make it to the Sahara.

DAY 1 — FES TO THE SAHARA

Leave Fes behind and head south through the Middle Atlas, where the landscape changes dramatically as you travel toward the desert. Pass mountain towns, cedar forests, wide valleys and the spectacular scenery of the Ziz Valley before arriving in Merzouga.

Then it’s time for the experience you came for: the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Head into the Sahara, watch the colours change as the sun goes down and settle in for an unforgettable desert evening beneath a sky filled with stars.

DAY 2 — MERZOUGA TO FES

Wake to the stillness of the Sahara and, if you’re an early riser, one spectacular sunrise.

After breakfast, begin the journey north toward Fes, retracing the changing landscapes of southern Morocco, the Ziz Valley and Middle Atlas.

Two days. A lot of Morocco. And one very good story to take home.

PLAN THIS TRIP

MARRAKECH TO THE SAHARA

3 DAYS | MARRAKECH → MERZOUGA → MARRAKECH

DAY 1 — MARRAKECH TO DADES

Leave Marrakech and climb into the spectacular High Atlas Mountains, travelling twisting roads and mountain passes toward southern Morocco.

Visit the extraordinary fortified village of Aït Ben Haddou, then continue through Ouarzazate and the Valley of Roses toward the dramatic landscapes around Dades.

Settle in for the evening surrounded by some of Morocco’s most beautiful scenery.

DAY 2 — DADES TO MERZOUGA

Today the road leads deeper south.

Travel through dramatic gorges, oasis communities and desert landscapes before reaching Merzouga and the enormous golden dunes of Erg Chebbi.

Trade the road for the Sahara, experience the dunes and watch the desert sunset before spending the evening under an astonishing canopy of stars.

DAY 3 — MERZOUGA TO MARRAKECH

Wake in the Sahara before beginning the journey back toward Marrakech.

It’s a longer travel day, but Morocco keeps changing outside the window as desert gives way to valleys, kasbah country and finally the High Atlas before you return to the city..

PLAN THIS TRIP

FES TO MARRAKECH — THE BEAUTIFUL WAY

3 DAYS | FES → MERZOUGA → MARRAKECH

Why simply travel between Fes and Marrakech when you can put the Sahara in the middle?

DAY 1 — FES TO MERZOUGA

Leave Fes and travel south through the Middle Atlas, passing mountain communities, cedar country and the landscapes of the Ziz Valley.

By late day, the mountains and valleys give way to the Sahara and the towering dunes of Erg Chebbi.

Head into the desert for sunset and an unforgettable night near the dunes.

DAY 2 — MERZOUGA TO DADES

After a desert morning, travel west through the landscapes of southern Morocco.

Along the way are palm-filled oases, traditional communities, rugged mountains and some of the country’s most dramatic gorges.

Spend the night around the beautiful Dades Valley.

DAY 3 — DADES TO MARRAKECH

Continue through the Valley of Roses and Morocco’s famous kasbah country toward Ouarzazate and Aït Ben Haddou.

Then cross the magnificent High Atlas Mountains before descending into Marrakech.

You haven’t simply transferred from Fes to Marrakech — you’ve crossed Morocco.

PLAN THIS TRIP

MARRAKECH TO FES VIA THE SAHARA

 4 DAYS | MARRAKECH → FES

An extra day gives you something precious: time to slow down.

DAY 1 — MARRAKECH TO DADES

Cross the High Atlas Mountains and travel into the landscapes of southern Morocco.

Explore Aït Ben Haddou, pass through Ouarzazate and continue through valleys and kasbah country toward Dades for the evening.

DAY 2 — DADES TO MERZOUGA

DAY 3 — THE SAHARA

Today, there is nowhere you need to race.

Explore the area around Merzouga, discover desert communities and landscapes, enjoy local experiences and spend some proper time in a place that deserves more than a quick photograph.

This is also where travelling with Hamid makes a difference — there is room for the places, people and experiences that don’t fit neatly into a conventional tour itinerary.

DAY 4 — MERZOUGA TO FES

Leave the desert and follow the Ziz Valley north before climbing back into the Middle Atlas.

Watch the landscape transform once again as you make your way to historic Fes.
